New GM global engine of 1.0 and 1.5 liters

Brands tend increasingly to globalization, and one of the strongest is betting that General Motors, especially with its Chevrolet brand. Now the plan seems to be the launch of two new low cylinder Ecotec engines ahead of the next three years.

Would be three petrol engines and four-cylinder 1.0 and 1.5 liters respectively , being as light as possible and using technologies like direct fuel injection, turbos or the possibility of running on alternative fuels.

GM is working on these engines together with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), Shanghai General Motors (SGM) and Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC). These engines will be global, and will probably ride in small cars are marketed to the end of the decade. It is clear as many manufacturers have realized that it needed less dependence on oil and reducing CO2 emissions, basically what is being done in Europe long ago, not long ago across the pond.

Cadillac SRXGeneral Motors assumes that you have the platform, at least for now, developing a luxury hybrid vehicle, so it is said that it has canceled plans to develop the base of Cadillac SRX crossover plug-in formats.

According to sources in the trade publication Automotive News, and engineers involved in the development of this project were reallocated to other projects, so it becomes increasingly difficult to see that the Detroit giant inroads in this segment.

It’s funny how within 6 months, GM went from “casting” rumors of a hybrid Cadillac crossover to talk about “probabilities” and after “the future of technology can be there”.

Daewoo BrandDaewoo spent a few years ago known as Chevrolet in most markets where it was sold to, among other things, trying to improve its brand image. Now General Motors, Daewoo’s parent company, has confirmed that it intends to dispel the Daewoo name the first four months of the year.

Korea GM Daewoo will (only sold as such in Korea) and its products will be rebranded as Chevrolet, as happened in other markets. With the name change will models like Orlando, Aveo or Camaro.

According to Mike Arcamone, President and CEO of GM Daewoo, “Changing our corporate name will enhance our position within GM globally while demonstrating our commitment to growth locally.” He added: “With the significant changes we are announcing today Our goal is to increase our sales and market share, generate additional revenue, strengthen our relationship with customers, create new jobs and expand our presence in Korea. We believe that this movement is a key long-term success and, basically, I think it will bring additional benefits to our customers and the Korean economy.”
